Here are the rules, please read them. They contain important information and we expect you to follow them. Remember, that in order to join we would prefer you to be over 13 years of age. This site is aimed for intermediate to advanced RPers and if you are younger than 13 it is likely you do not yet possess the skill to keep up with other members.
Registering:
• Please do not register then "forget" to make an application, we will find out and it is likely that your account will be deleted.
• Please do not make a character and then disappear. It's more work for us and it doesn't make us happy campers. [/ul]
Applications:
• Please post your application on the correct board (Pending Applications). Really, you'd be surprised how many we have to move. It's tiring.
• When you are accepted your application will be moved to the accepted section, we will reply to your app with an approved banner to let you know that you are accepted. There will be important links in this post. Take a look at them.
• When filling out the application, please do not use one word or one line answers for things that may require something along the lines of three paragraphs. The suggested lengths are there for a reason. If your application is lacking in detail, we'll tell you. Be specific, it'll help you get to know the character and it'll help other members get to know them, too.
• No character is perfect, and no character is all-powerful. Even the Sons and Witches should have some weaknesses.
• Do not post an incomplete application and expect to be approved. All sections must be filled in. If you're not done with your application, please put (wip) or (nd) in the title.
• Please do not post extra pictures, flash images, or videos in your application. They are not needed nor wanted. The single picture at the top and two paragraphs to describe overall appearance are enough.
• We accept both canon characters and original humans. Please note, however, that our canon list is incomplete. There are a handful of other characters from the movie and if you wish to create on of them feel free to tell the staff and create that character.
• Please post your application like this: First Last (wip/done).
• Please use the application template to post an application. The template is there for a reason. It asks the right questions and is in a format that we are familiar with. If you post your own version of an application, you be told to use the correct template. Failure to do so will result in a denial.
• Please use a real person for a face claim. No anime. No cartoons. Real celebrity images can be photoshopped if you wish for them to have a different hair or eye color. [/ul]
Advertisement:
• Members, please do not advertise in your signatures. It's just rude.
• Please do not sign up for an account just to advertise. Our advertisement boards are guest friendly.
• Please do not PM advertisements to other members. If they want to look at your site, they can look at the ad on the advertisements board.[/ul]
C-Box:
• No advertising in the c-box. That's what the advertising boards are for.
• No flooding the c-box. It's annoying, and I'm pretty sure others would like a chance to say something, too.
• The main c-box is OOC only. If you want to play around in character, please take it to the IC c-box. That doesn't mean you can't do *actions* in the OOC c-box but understand that they are your actions and not your character's actions.
• Please try to keep your c-box username(s) somewhat close to your character name and/or your alias. It gives us something to call you besides "ilovejustinbieber" and it makes things easier to remember.[/ul]
Roleplaying:
• Please write in third person (e.g. "He ran to the door."). Writing in first person (e.g. "I ran to the door.") is both confusing and annoying.
• When writing dialogue, please put your speech in "quotation marks" so we know the difference between what the character is saying and what they are thinking. Many members also use color codes for dialogue.
• Swearing and Mature content are not permitted. We know that it is hard sometimes but keep the dialogue as clean as can be. Anyone not following these rules will have their post modified and will be given a warning. Any member with more then 3 warnings will be banned for a week.
• No god-modding! It's rude and will not be tolerated. If you want to do something in a post that takes away the other person's choice, ask them first. Also, if you do so, add an out of character (OCC) note at the end of your post letting us know you had permission to do what you did.
• This is a literate site, so please use proper grammar and spelling. There is a 250 word minimum for all RP-related posts. Most of our members posts are a great deal longer than that. Application code word: starlight (to be placed under the section "Anything Else?" in all character applications)
• If you want to get a character pregnant, ask a staff member first so we don't have fifteen pregnant woman running around Ipswich. Same goes if you want to kill off one of your characters. Just let us know first just so we know if we need to delete their application or move it.
• When speaking out of character (OCC) in a post, please make sure the text is before or after the main body of your post. Also remember to use ((brackets)) around your OCC speech.
• Sex. Try to refrain from giving us details. We know it happens, but try to be discreet. The best solution is to simply do a time jump stating that something did happen there but do not give details please.
• Please be patient when waiting for replies. Most of us have real lives outside of the site. We'll get to it when we can. If an abnormal amount of time has passed, just PM the person to let them know it's their turn.
• Please let a staff member know when a thread is done so that it can be moved to archives.
• When tagging someone in a post, please make sure they've agreed to be part of the thread first. All threads should be labeled to let other members know who can reply. (e.g. Thread Title (open) Thread Title (tag: Caleb) Thread Title (tag: Caleb/open) etc.) [/ul]
Activity:
• If you are planning on going away for a long period of time, please post in the away board so we know you'll be back.[/ul]
General:
• You may not request a person for a face claim who is already claimed by someone else. It's just silly and we will most likely laugh and ignore your request.
• You are not allowed to join an RP thread until your character application has been approved. Any unapproved posts will be moved to "hiatus" until you have been approved by a staff member.
• No text-style language (e.g. c u l8ter).
• Be nice to one another. We understand that there will be personality conflicts and arguments and such, but that's no reason to personally attack someone or be rude. If you have a problem with someone, tell staff and we'll get it sorted out.
• Please don't double post. There is a "modify" button if you wish to say more.
• Due to our site having sidebars on both sides, please keep signatures to a maximum of 500px width by 600px height so it doesn't stretch the page. Please also keep any images in posts (such as in games and madness) to a maximum width of 500px.
• New members are allowed one character. If you would like to make another character, you must reach 65 posts with your first before we will approve it. Same goes for a third, fourth, etc. Please remember not to overwhelm yourself.
• If you do not post with your character for three months then that account will most likely be deleted. Activity checks shall be run as well every month or two, just so we can keep track of who is still active.
• If you still have any questions, please post in the questions board and a staff member will get to it as soon as we can.
• Have fun and enjoy Sons of Ipswich![/ul]
